What Is The Difference Between Blinds and Shades?
Many people find the difference between blinds and shades to be confusing. Although blinds and shades are similar because they are both window treatments and used to control the quantity of incoming light, there are several important difference between the two. Blinds use slats, louvers or vanes and are made up of multiple pieces. Shade Works Wood Blinds and Vertical Blinds fall into the blinds category. Blinds allow you to control the amount of light entering into your room via the opening or closing of the slats, louvers or vanes.
In contrast to blinds which are made up of many individual pieces, shades are manufactured as one whole piece, without louvers, slats or vanes. Shades are typically made of fabric and are raised or lowered as one piece. Depending on the material, certain shades have excellent light control and insulatory properties. To clean and maintain shades, occasional vacuuming or dusting is recommended as they do not gather the same amount of dust as blinds do. Upgradeable options for shades include Featured Project #11 – Cordless Honeycomb Shades, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Valance upgrades and Cordless features.
